Testimonials
Here is a selection of what our patients had to say about us.
"I kept waiting to feel pain but it never happened."
I joined Brian’s practice in 2005, with a simple request to have pain free dental treatment. I explained I had previously undergone unsuccessful and very painful dental treatment with a previous dentist and had been in constant pain for several years. I had been diagnosed with sensitive teeth and recently undergone root canal work and a tooth extraction that I later found out was completely unnecessary.
After Initial consultation with, Brian, he confirmed I did not suffer from sensitive teeth and firstly referred me, for root canal correction, with Marco the in house Endodontist. I was so scared at the first visit waiting for the treatment. Marco and the dental nurse were very supportive and reassuring. He said modern dentistry, should not be painful. I kept waiting to feel pain but it never happened.
After more corrective treatment with Brian, I can now say I am pain free and no longer fear going to the dentist. I trust Brian and his team implicitly and for the first time in my life have confidence in a dentist.
I was so impressed with my treatment, I persuaded my husband and my son to join the practice. We are all extremely impressed with Brian and his team’s professionalism and attention to detail.
The whole team make the experience one of something pleasant rather than something to fear. Including the cosy waiting room with soft music and a good selection of magazines, to the TV screen above the dental chair, the reassuring words of the dental nurse and last but not least Nicky the hygienist.

"It is amazing how your teeth can affect the health of your whole body"
Dear Mr. Hong
I am writing to let you know how pleased I am with the dental work I have had done and with the subsequent health benefits I am experiencing.
I was prescribed natural Progesterone over 20 years ago, by my GP and have been on this ever since. I have also suffered with severe sore throats for many years and, despite visiting my GP, no-one had been able to tell me why this was happening. Two years ago, while on holiday in Scotland, I developed a severe ear infection. While the initial infection did clear up I was then constantly having problems with pain from my ear. Prior to this I had had an abscess at the back of my mouth behind a back tooth.
When Mr. Hong took over the practice he noticed a problem with my gums and that over time the pockets I had were getting slowly deeper. He suspected the Progesterone could be a problem and we discussed having treatment to my gums. Initially I was sceptical and did not immediately go ahead. I was convinced that with extra cleaning and care the pockets would reduce. However, when an X-ray revealed that one of my back teeth had a lot of bone loss around it (on the same side as my ear infections and the abscess had occurred) I realised that there was a serious problem. I spoke with Hennie, who informed me that I must stop the Progesterone and have blood tests for diabetes before he could start any treatment. He informed me that I would lose one tooth at the back but that if my gums were peeled back and all the infection removed I should not lose any more teeth.
I was not looking forward to having this work done, but I knew that it was necessary to save the rest of my teeth. At 57 I did not want to have false teeth in the near future, or indeed at any time.
The work was done under a very mild anaesthetic so that you are not completely “under” but remember very little afterwards. I was also given injections to avoid any pain. The work took 3 hours but I was not aware it was that long. My gums were peeled back and all the infected tissue was removed and the gums sewn back. Hennie was able to insert a post so that I could have a tooth made to fill the gap. Afterwards, there was some pain, but with painkillers for the first couple of days, it was quite bearable. The worst thing for me was the salt water mouth washes, as I hate the taste of salt water. I was given full instructions as to how to keep my teeth clean until they healed. It was fascinating to watch the healing process as my gums healed and the stitches slowly dissolved. I could only have liquid food to start with and had soups and smoothies for the first few days. I was then able to eat soft foods such as stewed fruit and soft foods such as salmon and mashed potatoes. Gradually I was able to eat more foods.
I have not had a sore throat or pain in my ear since I had the work done even after catching a cold in November. Before the treatment I would have had such a swollen throat that it would be difficult to breathe at night. As I had to take antibiotics before and after the treatment and these usually upset my stomach, I took probiotics to avoid this happening. Since taking them I have not suffered with indigestion, as I used to before. I have also lost weight, which I needed to do and have kept it off (apart form putting on a couple of pounds over Christmas).
Today (6th February) I have had my new tooth fitted and it feels like the others. I am now able to floss and clean my teeth properly without my gums bleeding as they did before. It is amazing how your teeth can affect the health of your whole body. Although the work was expensive (because there is a lot involved), you cannot put a price on good health, or for that matter, keeping your own teeth! Thank you once again for the work you have done.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs. S.H.
"Thanks to the brilliant dentistry provided by you and Hennie, however, all is now well!"
Dear Mr. Hong,
At last a peaceful few minutes at the end of a hectic week so I thought I really must write to express my thanks.
I had almost given up hope of ever getting rid of the broken bits of implant in my mouth after Eastman Dental Hospital said that nothing could be done. Thanks to the brilliant dentistry provided by you and Hennie, however, all is now well! I am so grateful to you both.
I must also thanks your team for their most pleasant and efficient care of me They were so kind.
Yours most sincerely,
Mrs. J.A.
"Grindcare has been instumental in the transformation of my life and general wellbeing for the better"
Dear Brian
Grindcare
I feel compelled to write to you to let you know that I am convinced that the Grindcare appliance that you obtained for me has been instrumental in the transformation of my life and general wellbeing for the better.
In order to appreciate the impact that the device has had I think it is important that you are aware of the medical issues that have confronted me over the years and most importantly the frequency with which I have suffered headaches and a general feeling of malaise since childhood. In my early years I became aware that I experienced uncomfortable headaches far more frequently than other members of my family and acquaintances. I have in recent years come to recognise that in part these headaches are linked with my personality. I have always sought to do things in what I perceive to be a proper manner both in my business and personal life and I am aware from the observations of those closest to me that this striving to achieve “perfection” has introduced stresses into my lifestyle.
I believe that society generally now recognises that we have introduced demands into our way of life that have resulted in a large proportion of the population being exposed to unnecessary stress. I am also aware that in my business life in response to the demands of Clients and with my underlying endeavour to “do things properly” I was obliged to work excessive hours, rarely leaving the office before 8.00 at night and frequently working weekends. I also brought this need to do things properly or not at all back from the office to my home life. I am now convinced that the cumulative effect of overwork and a striving for perfection has steadily over the years increased the underlying stress levels in my personality. The outcome of this stress has in my belief resulted in frequent headaches and a general feeling of malaise.
I was therefore not surprised that in 2000 my dentist at the time identified evidence in my teeth of clenching and grinding for which he suggested the root cause was probably stress. In 2001 my dentist fitted me with an occlusal splint which I have worn every night since until very recently.
Despite having an occlusal splint I continued in the following years to suffer from head and neck aches although not to a severe degree. However in 2007 my dentist noted that I was suffering from periodontal disease in three areas of my mouth where there were deep gum pockets. I am to this day of the opinion that this condition was a result of my bruxism where in clenching I was exerting considerable pressure on the areas concerned even though I was using my occlusal splint at all times. In November 2007 I underwent periodontal flap surgery and am pleased to report that my gums remain much improved.
It was in late 2007, following a review of our financial position, that my wife and I decided that I should arrange to take early retirement from my business in order to reduce the level of stress that I was experiencing and to adopt a gentler lifestyle.
Unfortunately extracting myself from my business proved far more difficult than I had ever anticipated and I spent the best part of two years in a dispute with my co-directors which cost me a considerable amount in not only legal and associated expenses but also in my general wellbeing. My headaches, neck aches and a general feeling of malaise increased as the dispute with my Practice continued to such an extent that in July 2009 after experiencing a headache which had been almost continuous for a period of approximately 5 weeks I was admitted to hospital for tests which included scans for evidence of a brain haemorrhage, which fortunately showed that there was nothing neurologically wrong.
Eventually my dispute with my fellow directors came, for my part, to a satisfactory conclusion in December 2009 and I started 2010 with a new enthusiasm having achieved semi-retirement and looking forward to focussing my life on what I really wanted to do. Unfortunately the change of lifestyle did not result in the vanquishing of the headaches which had plagued me for so much of my life. Although the severity and frequency of my headaches was less I was still experiencing them despite the fact that in my view my stress level was significantly reduced. I mentioned my concern at the continued frequency of my headaches to my dentist in March 2010 and he suggested that it was possible that my occlusal splint, which was by then fairly old, was not fitting properly and suggested that I try a nocieceptive trigeminal inhibition device which might help reduce the overall level of clenching that I was exerting. I was duly fitted for an NTI-tss device and the initial results were favourable in that my headaches and neck aches seemed significantly reduced.
However slowly the headaches returned and in April 2010 I mentioned to my doctor that although my stress levels were much reduced I was often awakening in the morning with a headache and neck ache which frequently lasted for the best part of the day. My doctor prescribed a course of benzodiazepine tablets as a relaxant however I did not experience any significant reduction in headaches or general improvement in my sense of wellbeing. In fact my condition continued to worsen and my mid May 2010 I was experiencing not only headaches but I was awaking most mornings with a feeling of slight nausea and vertigo. In early June I returned to my dentist who suggested that there was a possibility that the NTI-tss device was increasing the pressure on my temporomandibular joint which was resulting in the vertigo. My dentist recommended that I cease using the NTI-tss device and that I have a new occlusal splint made which would be designed to reduce the pressure on the temporomandibular joint. I accepted my dentist’s recommendation and whilst the new occlusal splint was being made I returned to using my old splint.
Unfortunately even with the old occlusal splint the headaches and vertigo continued. By now I was becoming more aware of bruxism having visited various websites and my dentist had mentioned the Gridcare appliance which, having looked into the product on the internet, gave me some cause for hope. I was due to go on holiday on Tuesday 15th June and by Friday 11th June I felt so unwell that I was prepared to consider anything in an attempt to cure the headaches and vertigo. On that Friday I visited my doctor who prescribed anti-seasickness pills, I was referred to a physiotherapist who manipulated my neck muscles in an attempt to relieve the tension and I also attended an appointment with a local hypnotherapist having read on the Bruxism Association website that there were often positive responses to hypnotherapy.
The effects of the hypnotherapy were radical. I had three sessions over a two week period and immediately my headaches and vertigo diminished significantly. Having cancelled my holiday I took delivery of my new occlusal splint on 22nd June and subsequent checks over the next week or so showed that there was little evidence the I was subjecting the splint to much grinding.
My headaches and vertigo were by now quite mild however I had decided to proceed with a trial of a Grindcare appliance as I was confident that this could help achieve a total cure to my bruxism. I took delivery of a Grindcare appliance on 21st July following an induction into the product by my dentist. The effect of the Grindcare unit was as dramatic as my hypnotherapy. Over the first three nights my baseline was established which showed that I was clenching an average of 37 times each night (far below the number of clenches that I suspect I was producing prior to my hypnotherapy treatment). As soon as I started using the stimulator the number of clenches dropped dramatically to around 5 or 6 per night and gradually fell to 1 or 2 over a six week period.
I ceased using the Gridcare unit regularly after approximately six weeks however I do occasionally check my current condition and generally find that the number of clenches per night does not exceed 2.
Nearly two months ago I stopped using my occlusal splint to no adverse effect after it had been part of my life for nearly ten years. I can also state with confidence that since I started using my Grindcare appliance I have ceased to experience the bruxism symptoms that I suffered from for so many years.
I owe an enormous debt of gratitude to Medotech.
With kind regards,
Yours sincerely

"Your attention to the utmost detail to ensure that the end result was 100%."
Dear Brian,
Thank you again for the excellent work in replacing the caps and veneers to the highest of standards. Your attention to the utmost detail to ensure that the end result was 100%. Even the temporary caps were very good.
I should have taken your advice many years ago and had them replaced. The whole process was painless.
Perhaps, next time Macleans advertise on ‘Dancing on Ice’, I might replace the girl with a smile?...the pensioner with a smile!
Again, many thanks. See you at the next check up.
Kindest regards,
C.C.
